Even if you are an experienced metal detectorist there is always room to learn a few new tricks. If you are a new detectorist, it can help you greatly to own a pinpointer when recovering a target.
When I first started I didn’t even have a pinpointer and I didn’t see what all the hype was about one. I mean, after all I pinpoint my targets with the detector before I dig!
It wasn’t until there was a Christmas gift exchange on the forum that I got one. That was awesome by itself, but once I realized how the Garrett Pro-Pointer could help retrieve targets in 1/3rd of the time I was hooked and would never detect without my pinpointer again!
There are a few tricks that you can use with the pro-pointer, and the folks at Garrett have put together a simple How-To “Pinpointing Tips with the Garrett Pro-Pointer” video for us.
In this video, Garrett shows how to Re-Tune your pinpointers audio response to the target. In this demonstration, Re-Tuning your Pro-Pointer can help you narrow the range of detection down even smaller. This technique comes in handy another way when you have a larger target. By Re-Tuning the pinpointer you will be able to tell if your target is a deeper target, or a larger one giving you one more tool to help locate and retrieve your targets in less time.
Super Tuning your Garrett Pro-Pointer
In This Video, Digger27 demonstrates how you can learn another technique called Super Tuning your Garrett Pro-Pointer. Here you can learn how to pinpoint your target to an even more narrow area Before you even dig.
This technique will save some people the trouble of digging in the wrong spot when retrieving some of the deeper targets!
There you have it, a couple more techniques for your metal detecting tool box.
